Paradise Beach – “European Copacabana”
The most popular tourist resort on the island of Rab is a real little “sand paradise” with more than 20 natural sandy beaches, of which the most famous is by far the Paradise Beach, which you simply have to see live !
The “European Copabana”, as many call it, stretches over almost two kilometers of uninterrupted sand and is rightly ranked among the most beautiful natural beaches in the world. Except for her beauty. on it you can find numerous sports and recreational facilities and catering facilities, and the most interesting event on Rajska beach is the Sculpture Festival, which gathers numerous artists every year in June to create attractive sculptures from natural sand.
In addition to the already mentioned Rajska beach, due to its geomorphological characteristics and numerous coves, Lopar is enriched with more than 20 natural sandy beaches, the most famous of which are Livačina, Ciganka, Sahara, Mel, etc. In case you don’t like the summer crowds and overcrowding of Rajska beaches, you can find your oasis of peace just a little further on the Podrapost beach, where our beach bar and water sports center “Trstika” is located.
So that everything doesn’t just stay in the sun, the sea and beaches in Lopar can also be enjoyed by all lovers of hiking, jogging and cycling who will find numerous natural paths to use for outdoor sports activities during their vacation.
Also, Lopar is a village rich in cultural tradition and Mediterranean gastronomy, and the best way to see for yourself is the cultural event called Lopar Night, which has traditionally been held since 2006.
Protector of St. Marine
Saint Marin is the patron saint of Lopar, and the traditional cultural event Lopar Night ends with his farewell. A native of Lopar, he is its most famous resident, and during the persecution of Christians by the Roman emperor Diocletian, he left his birthplace and moved to Rimini. He is the founder of the oldest European republic of San Marino, his memorial is on September 3, and he is also the protector of falsely accused people.

Giant sculptures made of natural sand are mostly, understandably, marine motifs, and attractive photos from a bird’s perspective make the rounds of the world media every year.

Povijesno i kulturno vjerojatno i najpoznatiji dio Lopara definitivno je Goli otok – nenastanjeni otok koji je za vrijeme Jugoslavije služio kao zloglasni politički zatvor za neistomišljenike. Od milja nosi naziv “hrvatski Alcatraz” ali s pravom – njegova lokacija toliko je dobro logistički odabrana da je bijeg s njega bio jednostavno nemoguć !

Lopar is a picturesque place in the north of the island, slightly more than 10 kilometers from the center of Rab, and is well connected with the rest of the island of Rab.
It is the hometown of Saint Marino, the founder of the first and oldest republic in the world: the Republic of San Marino in Italy. If you came to Lopar from the direction of Rab, the first monument you will come across is dedicated to him.
In his honor, the tourist resort and camp in our immediate vicinity are named San Marino. A cheerful place with a lot of diversity that has mostly kept the connection with the island’s past, which is visible in the way of life and the dialect of its inhabitants.
In addition to wooded areas and other natural beauties, there are many sandy beaches in Lopar, 22 to be exact, of which the most famous is Rajska plaža.
As a place with a rich history that holds on to its traditions, Lopar not only offers a rich gastronomic offer and natural wealth, but with cultural manifestations such as Fishermen’s Nights and Lopar Night, they try to bring tourists and other visitors closer to their values from the past, but also to preserve the same values that have been passed on by their ancestors for generations until today’s generation.
